Application Procedures/Deadlines - Spring 

The program is using the on-line centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be accessed at https://dicas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login in August for Spring applications.

Spring Application cycle:
     1. The on-line application must be completed by the program deadline of 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on January 15, 2025.
     2. Internship enrollment offers will be sent out no later than March 1, 2025.
     3. Program applicants must accept or decline their enrollment offer by March 15, 2025.

The fee to submit a DICAS application is $50 for the first application submitted. There is no additional fee to apply to the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Dietetic Internship Program.

APPLICATION CRITERIA for the LSCVAMC Dietetic Internship are:

  • You MUST be a United States Citizen
  • You MUST have an cumulative GPA of 3 to meet Case Western Reserve University admission requirement for graduate school.
  • All men over the age of 18 MUST be registered with the Selective Service System. Enrollment can be verified at: https://www.sss.gov/verify
  • Candidates are evaluated in terms of academic achievement, their personal statement, work, volunteer, and leadership experiences.
  • GRE scores are not required.
  • Work experience in an area related to dietetics is considered beneficial to the student's overall preparation for the dietetic internship but is not mandatory.

As part of the DICAS application process you will be asked to complete a personal statement in 1,000 words or less. Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:

  • Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
  • What are some experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career?
  • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
  • What other information do you consider important for the selection decision?

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended should be sent to DICAS Transcript Dept., PO Box 9118, Watertown MA 02472.

When completing the DICAS application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an e-mail address) for each reference. This will trigger an e-mail message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed on-line.

All candidates are evaluated in terms of academic achievement (3.0 GPA), personal statement, letters of recommendation, work, volunteer, and leadership experiences. GRE scores are not required. Work experience in an area related to dietetics is considered beneficial to the student's overall preparation for the dietetic internship but is not mandatory. There is no application fee for the dietetic internship program.

Applicants, interested in completing a graduate degree, are screened for eligibility for admission to CWRU's School of Graduate Studies. The CWRU Graduate School application fee is paid after the student accepts a match to the LSCVAMC dietetic internship program.

2025 Spring Open Enrollment Process for the Louis Stokes Cleveland VAMC Dietetic Internship:

If the Louis Stokes Cleveland VAMC [LSCVAMC] Dietetic Internship, has internship openings after March 15th, the program's DICAS portal will open.

Spring Open Enrollment APPLICATION CRITERIA for the LSCVAMC Dietetic Internship are:

  • You MUST be a United States Citizen

The LSCVAMC Dietetic Internship Director will conduct rolling reviews of the applications as they are received and contact qualified applicants to extend an internship invitation. If the applicant is unable to accept the invitation, the LSCVAMC Dietetic Internship Director will move to the next qualified applicant and so on until the program is filled. 

The Louis Stokes Cleveland VAMC Dietetic Internship DICAS portal will close once the program is filled.

Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply for the VA Dietetic Intership Programs.

All applications will be retained by the LSCVAMC Dietetic Internship Program for one year and then destroyed. No application materials will be returned to applicants.
