Financial Information
Memphis VAMC provides a stipend to help with living expenses. For the 2024-25 class this will be approximately $24,000 for the 40 weeks of appointment.

Tuition:
Interns enrolled in the combined MS/Dietetic Internship Track will be responsible for the tuition costs at the University of Alabama including additional textbooks and supplies. Text books can cost anywhere from $125-$250 per semester. The program is a total of 30 credit hours with tuition of $440 per credit hour for the 2022-2023 academic year. Graduate Students are eligible for financial aid at the University of Alabama. For any additional questions please refer to the University of Alabama's website.
Liability Insurance:
Liability insurance can be purchased through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a student member. Interns are required to have liability insurance to complete rotations at partnering facilities in the Memphis area.
Health Insurance:
Dietetic interns at the Memphis VA Medical Center are eligible for health insurance benefits at the VA. Interns are eligible to use employee health for work related health problems or injuries.
Parking and Transportation:
Interns are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from all rotations. Parking is provided for trainees. Public transportation is not recommended, personal transportation is strongly encouraged.
