Temple, Texas is a centrally located town about 45 minutes north of Austin and two hours south of Dallas. With only over 80,000 residents, Temple offers the perfect compromise between small-town living and the hustle and bustle of a big city. The city is best known for its medical community including both the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center as well as the Central Texas Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. Additionally, Temple and its surrounding towns host many live music events, fairs, and rodeos while also being only a short drive down to the live music capital of the world, Austin, Texas.
Temple is a great place to stay active and boasts over 25 miles of walking, biking, and hiking trails, as well as numerous playgrounds, golf courses, pools, and family water parks. Temple Parks and Recreations is also home to various adult sports leagues including kickball, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and cornhole. With just a short drive to a neighboring town, you can also enjoy water recreation such as boating or fishing at either Belton Lake or Stillhouse Lake year-round with our temperate weather.
If sports are your thing just travel up and down Interstate 35 to see professional sports teams including the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, or Dallas Cowboys. The Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, and repeat World Series champion Houston Astros are also less than a 3 hour drive away. Collegiate sports including nearby University of Mary-Hardin Baylor with their national championship football team, Texas A&M University with their fighten Texas Aggies, Baylor University, and the nationally acclaimed University of Texas Longhorns are all also just a short drive away.
